A former Army Ranger and sniper, challenged by suicidal ideation, divorce, and alcoholism, fights to reconnect with his family and resume a place of leadership in civilian society. Filmed over 2.5 years, the story begins after Ben has gotten out of the hospital following a drunken bar fight that almost killed him. Knowing he needs to turn his life around, but skeptical of doing anything emotional, he attends a workshop in Milwaukee called Healing Warrior Hearts. The film tracks his slow growth into acceptance of his feelings, ending 2.5 years later with his participation on staff at a 2nd Healing Warrior Hearts in Houston, and his taking on a volunteer role at Heaven’s Gait Ranch in Wisconsin – tending to horses and teaching special needs children how to ride.
