Military leaders will no longer be shielded from consequences when it comes to sex offenses. Though the Pentagon has failed miserably in keeping sexual assault out of the military, victims and their advocates are finally being acknowledged by Congress. A measure passed the House recently tasking, for the first time ever, truly independent military lawyers to handle sexual assault cases regardless of who’s involved in the chain of command.
