GIVING TUESDAY IS NOVEMBER 29
Giving Tuesday was started by people concerned about how the spirit of gratitude and giving were disappearing from our consumer-based culture. The idea to counter Black Friday and Cyber Monday establishes a day to remind us how we’re all interdependent, how it’s essential to nurture joy and self-realization through giving. So I invite you to reach out on Tuesday to give to your favorite charity and to do it because it fulfills YOU.
OUR CAMPAIGN TO FUND PHASE 1 OF VETERANS JOURNEY HOME…
…is almost complete! Thank you for responding to the call for our $10k challenge! We’re now over $23k. We’ve also received an additional $5k challenge, effectively putting us over $28k – most of the way to our $40k goal! You can still join in and help! And if you haven’t yet seen all our Dr. Lettini clips talking about Moral Injury check them out on our Warrior Films YouTube channel.
DR. EDWARD TICK – OUR VET HERO OF THE MONTH
Dr. Tick is one of the most influential thinkers behind our Veterans Journey Home project. If you haven’t yet checked out his books WAR AND THE SOUL and WARRIOR’S RETURN do yourself a favor. And if you are a vet, or you know and love one, check out his organization Soldier’s Heart.
JOIN OUR BOARD!
Our Treasurer just stepped down. (Though you wouldn’t have to assume that role.) This is a great opportunity for documentary film lovers, social change agents, people that really want to make a difference in the world of art and society. See what it takes to join our Board.
NO, THIS IS NOT MY ORDINATION AS A ZEN PRIEST
But it was taken at a Hollow Bones Rinzai Zen retreat in 2011. Just so you know it’s not all chop wood, carry water… we have a hell of a lot of fun too! I just completed a three week visit to our “root monastery” in the Catskill mountains of New York: Dai Bosatsu. And I will be ordained in January. Look out Zen world!
