Though I’m not inclined to blow my own horn, I do consider it part of my responsibility as company manager to let supporters know when good things happen. Our recent stream of good press is part of that news. Business Insider just published a nice story on our 20 year anniversary. It’s interesting to reflect on how the post 9-11 precariousness of the world induced me to found Warrior Films. Now, 20 years later, things are even worse. Not due to a lack of effort on our part!
Another recent story in New York Weekly focuses on how the lack of initiation and mentorship of teen boys could contribute to mass shootings. There’s no doubt in my mind that universal initiation and mentorship of teens would reduce if not eliminate the likelihood of boys becoming mass shooters. Check it out. And here’s a recent story about our large and growing film library in E! Magazine and here’s one in LA Weekly about our new film now in production… 20 years old and we’re still rockin’ the house!
Speaking of our film library, for the first time ever, we now have almost every film I’ve made and all three of my books available in one convenient place: the Warrior Films Shop and Bookstore. You can rent the films, some for as little as $1.99, or buy them to keep for as little as $9.99. Want to see those award-winning short films I made in the ’80s about living in China and about my family history? Those 16mm and 35mm experimental films I made that premiered at the New York Film Festival? That hour long TV doc about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that I made with Chuck Olin and Pam Marks? They’re all here, and more…
And the podcasts keep comin’… Just last night I spoke with Gemma Star of Man Speak about why Rites of Passage are necessary for men and teen boys and how they work. If you never heard the full explanation before, check it out. I also recently spoke with Erik Therwanger on his “Think Great” podcast about what got me started as a filmmaker and why Veterans so need and deserve meaningful rituals of return.
